My Favorite New Street Photography Camera…

My new street photography/travel camera is the Sony DCS-RX100 IV. It’s a palm-sized powerhouse that shoots raw files as well as JPEGs at the same time, not to mention an awesome panorama mode, exposures as fast as 1/32,000 of a second, a built in ND filter, 4K video and high frame rate slow-motion video at up to 960 frames per second!

Here’s a link to a review that Jared Polin, a.k.a. the Fro Knows Photo guy, just did and he shows some features that I am still discovering about this little champion. Check it out here at his website “FroKnowsPhoto.com”: FroKnowsPhoto.com Sony RX100IV Review. I have posted some pics taken with this camera from my recent trip to London & Paris. This is an exceptional camera and you can be sure that I will take it everywhere!

Bridge Point Fontana Groundbreaking Ceremony

Premier Design & Build Group of Itasca, Illinois contracted Michael Thomas Photography to shoot their groundbreaking ceremony for their new Bridge Point Fontana industrial development. PD&BG senior officials, along with their partners in the project and the Mayor of Fontana and city staff gathered on a beautiful Southern California fall day to signal that the “City of Fontana welcomes business!”.

Dinner in the Grove

The Performing Arts Guild Alliance had their annual “Dinner in the Grove” fundraising event at the Marabella Ranch on the night on September 26th. Michael Thomas Photography was again asked to document the event. It was styled in a “Happy Days” 50’s theme and many dressed up for the occasion. This particular event benefited the Hemet High School Jazz Ensemble to assist in paying for a trip. Dance music was supplied throughout the evening by the CCA Jazz Quintet.

The Wharton/Curry Family Reunion

Late in the afternoon of September 26, the Wharton & Curry families got together to celebrate the wedding anniversary of the patriarchs of the large family. Another large and boisterous group with lots of banter and laughter going on. The Mission Inn is one of my favorite places to shoot families, seniors and grads, and that day was no exception.

UC Santa Barbara 2015 Commencment

Well, the day finally arrived. Shannon and a cast of hundreds of like-minded seniors in the schools of humanities and the arts at UCSB marched in front of proud parents and received the accolades they deserved after 4 or more years of hard work and determination. Now that this phase of her and her classmates’ lives are over, now comes the reality check: paying the bills and repaying those nasty student loans.

Good luck, Shannon. You did your father proud!
